According to local police an unidentified man broke into the premises of the Kyoto Animation Studios around 10.30am on Thursday morning, poured an inflammable liquid around and set fire to it.

There was a large explosion and the building turned into an inferno. The man apparently said ‘Drop dead’ as he lit the flames. People ran out covered in fire, while some workers have been found lying together on the second floor. The biggest group are on the top floor, some on the stairs where they were trying to escape to the roof.
