Melbourne actor Nicholas Denton will soon be seen as the infamous seducer Pascal Valmont in Starz’s eight-part reimagining of Dangerous Liaisons – a far cry from the character he played in Not Dark Yet at this year’s Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF).
Poignantly, the acclaimed short was directed by Moir’s daughter, Bonnie, who co-wrote the story with Denton. ‘There was something very beautiful in watching those two work together’, Denton reflects. ‘I think it was kind of therapeutic in a way because there are some topics and analogies in the film that come from her own experience with him.’
