Actor Russell Dykstra will receive a University of Southern Queensland Alumnus of the Year Award for the Faculty of the Arts, which apparently also puts him in the running for the Outstanding Alumnus of the Year for 2013 award.

Dykstra has a big bunch of film, television and theatre credits, including Oranges and Sunshine, View from Greenhaven Drive, Hey, Hey it’s Esther Blueburger, Rake and Wild Boys. He received the Helpmann and Sydney Theatre Awards for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Toy Symphony, and an AFI Awards Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Romulus My Father.
