The Melbourne cinema scene is the poorer after the recent passing of Nicola White. Most recently General Manager of the web magazine “Senses of Cinema”, Nicola had been an active contributor to and participant in Melbourne and Brisbane screen culture for almost two decades.

In the mid-90s Nicola joined the Lumiere Cinemas as Manager and made significant contribution to their success and their pride in being independent. She oversaw successful releases ranging from Russian Ark to Baise Moi and supervised the six month season of The Gleaners And I. Lumiere Director Paul Coulter hailed Nicola’s contribution saying “Nicki had a great eye and sense for films that would work for us. She was part of our heart and soul and helped make the Lumiere memorable”.
