The sun set on ASB Business and Sunrise this morning – a less than lovely birthday present for ASB Business presenter Michael ‘Silver Fox’ Wilson. The money-go-round, or the lack of it, has driven the decision to cancel both shows, according to TV3. Neither show has built ratings to compete successfully against their TV One counterparts, and the MediaWorks board has deemed the shows’ ongoing losses unsustainable.

Ian Audsley, MediaWorks TV Executive Director, said, “We have not taken this decision lightly, and it has been the subject of a lot of debate and discussion at both a Board and Management level – ultimately it has been the Board’s decision.”
