Box Offfice 23 April 2019 – Mumbai grows in US, while Captain Marvel won’t move on

Has the country given up on imagination? Box office totals are mediocre, though Hotel Mumbai still carries itself with modest pride.

Easter gave the sector little more than a chance to watch Hotel Mumbai sinking slowly in its sixth week. It has made $3.198m, has dropped another 17%, lost a lot of screens and is doing $433/screen. But it made $700,000 in the US this weekend from 314 theatres and has taken $12.55m in North America.
