ASTRA Awards to be absorbed into AACTAs

The ASTRA Awards for subscription television have committed acronymic suicide by being absorbed into the AACTAs, for the wider industry.

It turns out that the 13 ASTRA Awards is also the last, as the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association announced a deal with the AFI-AACTAs to replace it.  

For the December 9 broadcast, subscription TV will have a special award for its best drama ever, to celebrate its own 20th anniversary. The judges will be an unnamed group of ‘television critics and writers’. Our bet is on Cloudstreet.
