Australian production company Screentime has had a brief moment of fame in the District Court of The Hague. Screentime’s owner, Banijay, had sued John de Mol’s Talpa Media to prevent it using the title The Next Popstar for a rival format.

After a two-week case, the Court ruled that Talpa, and Dutch broadcaster SBS, cannot use the name. Talpa is due to commence production, with broadcast scheduled for early 2013. Talpa has the right to appeal the decision.
