That is a desperate lede, but the news is important. There’s a mentorship program – a form of funding which has been roadtested by many other agencies and usually works if the terms are right.
And they have a script literacy program: to “cover various key aspects of script literacy and assessment, with a view to developing the script literacy of new and emerging practitioners – particularly producers, but also directors and others who read scripts as part of their professional practice.”
That is code for “how to read a script”, which is a very specialised skill in sadly short supply.
