Triggered by the SBSI decision to remove the commissioning editor from Melbourne, the Melbourne Documentary Group is holding a forum to discuss current concerns about the role of commissioning editor, the broadcasters relationship with the independent community, and the nature of the independent documentary filmmaker.

The forum aims to “assist a coherent response from Victorian documentary film makers to the SBS decision, while airing other issues that affect us a filmmaking community”.

THE VENUE HAS CHANGED. It will now occur at the AFTRS building in the wasteland by the docks at the end of LaTrobe St. Fortunately it starts at 6.30 so there will be enough daylight to find the place.

The date is Tuesday October 4, 2005.

If you plan to park a car, you should bring five dollars in coins to get your vehicle out afterwards.
