Background:
www.lonelyplanet.tv is Lonely Planet’s online video channel launched in April 2007. It is a unique place for travelers to watch videos uploaded by other travelers and short docs produced by lonely planet tv.
Position Overview:
The position is responsible for creating, producing and sourcing all lonelyplanet produced short videos featured on the site. This includes:
– With input from the site Manager, set editorial direction for the site. This includes developing concepts for new channels and short travel videos.
– Producing sample short travel videos which includes: production managing, filming, directing and editing all videos
– Upload the lonely planet videos onto the website.
– Monitor travellers’ uploads onto the website.
– Every day select the ‘lonely planet pick’ eg the 3 videos featured on the homepage.
– Review videos submitted by travelers in order to identify new talents, license the best videos for syndication, and commission new work.
– Liaising with amateur and professional film communities overseas in order to harvest overseas footage and commission short docs
– Manage the video production, acquisition and commission budget.
