We are a bit used to Slapper, Lucy Schroder’s film which won both Sydney and Melbourne Film Festivals last year, which was up again her for three awards. In the event, the lead actor Sapphire Blossom was given The Best Actor Award.

But Adele, produced by Grace Julia, also nominated three times, is a new arrival, emerging into the national gaze at Flickerfest in January. Like Slapper and The Dam, it was beaten for Best Film, but Mirene Igwabi did win The Best Director Award, while actress Princess Mariama Andrews is the Best Young Actor.
