Mao's Last Dancer opened last Thursday, and took $514,458 on the first night. According to producer Jane Scott, this makes it the fifth biggest Australian opening ever, and the best for 2009.

Mao’s Last Dancer opened last Thursday, and took $514,458 on the first night. According to producer Jane Scott, this makes it the fifth biggest Australian opening ever, and the best for 2009.

It has been released on 269 screens. Once the public holiday is finished, we will know more. So far, this is tantalising but very incomplete. Two thou per screen is low.
