Hong Kong’s tradition of churning out pantomime-style features continues for the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival as the Chinese know it. Shaw Brothers’ offering took the box office honours this year.

Overall, the holiday period (22 – 25 January) showed a 5.9% increase over last year’s, with US 3D release Journey 2 The Mysterious Island taking top spot with HK$14,158,846.
