Australian film marks world first real-time ray tracing projection

Australian film Don’t Go Below used a combination of high-tech cameras and the latest VFX software for the world’s first real time ray tracing projection.

Upcoming Australian feature film Don’t Go Below has become the first film production in the world to use a technique called Real-Time Ray Tracing Projection.

The family adventure film, which was shot in Sydney and recently screened at the Cannes Film Market, is the third film by Sydney filmmaker Matt Drummond. Drummond replicated a real time ray tracing system by using ultra short throw projectors and ambient light rejecting screens.
