I am here in Cannes celebrating the 60th year of the film festival with a short film I produced called Fast Lane. Written and directed by Grant Scicluna, and funded by the Australian Film Commission, Fast Lane is at the Festival as part of the Short Film Corner. The SFC is a sidebar initiative that is ran by the Festival as the market place for short films. It’s opportunity for shorts to be viewed by festival programmers and distributors at the Festival in one of three theatrettes in the Palais des Festivals and also provides a wide range of programs for the film makers to participate in including workshops, round table forums, a live broadcast pitching opportunity and a happy hour everyday at 5pm. All for only 75 Euros. Sounds pretty good although the cost to attend in terms of flights and accommodation made me pause. Doesn’t hurt to submit the film I rationalise, and just see what happens.
