So he needs no intro, but the James Bond archive making its way to Melbourne Museum this coming November probably does.

The exhibition, Designing 007 – Fifty Years of Bond Style, will feature more than 400 items taken from the James Bond archive to showcase the production of the iconic movie brand. Celebrating the franchise’s 50th Anniversary, this Bond collection will highlight the style, design and craft of the 007 gadgets, vehicles, technology, fashion and music.

Having already visited locations such as London, Toronto and Shanghai, the exhibition will soon arrive at the Melbourne Museum.

‘We are delighted to welcome such an exhibition to Melbourne, a fitting home for one of the world’s greatest style icons’, said Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Louise Asher.

‘I am certain that the universal appeal of Bond, together with Melbourne’s tourism and major events calendar, will draw visitors to Victoria and contribute to the state’s $19.1 billion tourism industry,’ Ms Asher said.

‘Today, as well as announcing the much anticipated sale of tickets to this exhibition, for the first time in its world tour, the exhibition will be joined in Melbourne by a vehicle from a film with a uniquely Australian connection’.

The vehicle mentioned is the 1969 Aston Martin DBS seen in the Bond film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in which an Australian, George Lazenby, starred as Bond.

Costume highlights from the exhibition include Halle Berry’s orange bikini worn in Die Another Day, Daniel Craig’s sky blue trunks from Casino Royale, the white tuxedo worn by Roger Moore in Octopussy and the Spacesuit from Moonraker.

‘There is already great interest in the exhibition – everywhere I go people are asking me about the Bond exhibition,’ said the CEO of Museum Victoria, Dr Patrick Greene.

‘Even before today’s announcement of tickets going on sale, Bond fans have been booking corporate events, and we know there will be a rush to buy tickets – not least as wonderful Christmas presents!
