BIFCOM, the Pusan International Film Festival and several related events all wrapped last week, with a respectable amount of NZ participation. A couple of films with strong NZ credentials took part, one screening in the festival, one announcing its long-awaited appearance (and no, it wasn’t The Hobbit).
Around 50 organisations of various nationalities took stands at BIFCOM, including Film NZ. Given the international nature of the event, the organisers offered free translation/interpreter services to participants, covering Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese. Around 500 meetings took place, although formal announcements of deals done were thin on the ground.
