Petrol: Melbourne film to premiere at Locarno Film Fest

The bewitching second feature from Accelerator Lab alumna Lodkina will premiere in Switzerland before running for a major film prize at MIFF.

Australian director Alena Lodkina’s new feature film Petrol will have its World Premiere in the Locarno International Film Festival’s prestigious Cineasti del Presente section on 5 August, followed by its premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival on 11 August.

The film, the first Australian feature to show at Locarno since the 1990s, is also in the running for MIFF’s Bright Horizons Best Film prize, which awards $140,000 to an up-and-coming film director.
