Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been delayed again, slipping from its initial ‘early 2026’ release window to a nebulous release date ‘beyond early 2026.’ In a post on social media, developer Skydance Games cited a desire to deliver ‘unforgettable, premium games that honour the characters and worlds [they’re] fortunate to work with’ as part of the reason for the delay.
To ‘fully realise’ the vision for Marvel 1943, more time is needed.
‘Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we are committed to ensuring it meets the level of quality that our team, players, and fans expect,’ Skydance said.
‘We’re grateful for the passion and support from the community and players around the world. The team is working hard to create something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.’
What’s going on with Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra?
The delay for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is not entirely unexpected, as the game’s initial early 2026 release date seemed uncertain. To date, we’ve only seen a small glimpse at cinematic and action gameplay via early trailers, and some screenshots revealing more of its world.
As Skydance Games makes clear, this is an very ambitious game. It’s set to tell an original story starring Captain America (Steve Rogers, played by Drew Moerlein) and Black Panther (Azzuri, played by Khary Payton) as they fight through World War II.
Here’s the official plot: ‘In the chaos of war, worlds collide. Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s, must overcome their differences and form an uneasy alliance to confront their common enemy.’
‘Fighting alongside Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy embedded in Occupied Paris, they must join forces to stop a sinister plot that threatens to turn the havoc of WWII into the ultimate rise of Hydra.’
With big ideas about real-world events and honouring the legacy of the Marvel characters featured, Skydance Games has a significant task on its hands. It’s worth noting the project is being led by veteran game development talent, including Amy Hennig (veteran of Naughty Dog), but this is also Skydance’s first major video game work.
For now, those keen to see what the studio is working on will need to stay patient for a bit longer. As announced, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra no longer has a firm release window locked in, and the wording of Skydance’s announcement suggests it may arrive even later than 2026.

Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 has officially been delayed again, with the game now set to launch on 19 November 2026. This is the latest in a line of delays for the game. It had originally been set to launch in late 2025, and was then delayed to May 2026, before landing on its new date.
In a statement on social media, Rockstar Games confirmed a need for additional polish as being a core reason for the delay: ‘We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.’
‘We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.’
