Rockstar Games’ GTA 6 has officially been delayed again, with the game now set to launch on 19 November 2026. This is the latest in a line of delays for the game. It had originally been set to launch in late 2025, and was then delayed to May 2026, before landing on its new date.

Rockstar Games statement on GTA 6 delay

In a statement on social media, Rockstar Games confirmed a need for additional polish as being a core reason for the delay: ‘We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.’

‘We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.’

As Rockstar Games notes, keen players have waited quite some time for this upcoming sequel. It’s now been over a decade since the last franchise entry, GTA 5, launched – and multiple console generations. Some of those who played GTA 5 as teenagers are now adults with teenagers of their own.

Take-Two remains confident in GTA 6

Despite the announced delay for GTA 6, Rockstar Games owner Take-Two remains confident in the upcoming game, and its potentially transformative impact.

‘We remain both excited and confident [Rockstar Games] will deliver an unrivalled blockbuster entertainment experience,’ Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two said in the company’s latest financial reports.

‘We are very pleased with our position as one of the largest, most diversified companies within the interactive entertainment industry – a sector that we believe will enjoy robust growth. As we embrace our core values and focus on delivering the most captivating and engaging entertainment experiences, we expect to achieve record levels of net bookings in Fiscal 2027, establish a new baseline for our business, and enhance our profitability.’

As Zelnick outlined, GTA 6 is expected to be a smash hit for Rockstar Games and Take-Two when it eventually arrives, boosting company profits and consumer sentiment.

What’s next for Rockstar Games?

In the weeks and months ahead, we expect Rockstar Games will be dealing with a range of challenges – including the fallout from the announced GTA 6 delay, and recent allegations of union-busting at the studio (which the company has denied, instead citing alleged sharing of confidential information by employees).

In the meantime, developers still have a long road ahead to complete work on GTA 6, which is now a full year away from release. We expect to hear more about the game in 2026.

Frantic cooking game Overcooked is reportedly being adapted into a competitive reality TV show, with A24 developing the project for Netflix. The news arrives courtesy of Deadline, which likened the project to similar Netflix reality shows like Nailed It! and Floor Is Lava. With these examples, we can expect any adaptation will lean heavily into the absurdity of Overcooked, for maximum drama.

For those unfamiliar with the game, Overcooked is a multiplayer cooking game premised on bizarre circumstances. As you begin, you’re simply working alongside your fellow chefs to create meals, one ingredient at a time – chopping food, plating up, and washing dishes.
