Theatrical and home entertainment distributor, Umbrella Entertainment, has acquired the rights to the entire catalogue of films by Australian pioneer Charles Chauvel, and will be restoring them ahead of a new theatrical release. The Chauvel catalogue includes Australian cinematic classics The Rats of Tobruk, Forty Thousand Horsemen and Jedda.

Jeff Harrison, Managing Director of Umbrella, told ScreenHub that the catalogue would be fully remastered to high definition ahead of a new theatrical release in 2014. The work will be done by Melbourne’s Digital Pictures.
