The first series of Dr Blake’s Mysteries from December Films, has been sold to the BBC, in a coals to Newcastle moment. All part of a developing relationship that has involved ITV Studios, ITV Global, a bunch of marsupials and Mrs Charmian Biggs.
Dr Blake is a straightforward mystery series, all derived ultimately from Agatha Christie, Josephine Tey and Dorothy Sayers, with George Gently and Midsomer Murders moving it on at least towards living memory. It is not a radical genre.
