Control Resonant has finally been revealed, in a bold new trailer detailing what’s next for the Remedy Connected Universe (RCU). There were some major reveals in this first look, including confirmation that Dylan Faden will be the game’s protagonist, and hints that his sister, Control protagonist Jess Faden, might have gone rogue.
Here’s everything we learned from the first Control Resonant trailer, and everything else we know about the upcoming game.
Control Resonant: full breakdown – quick links
Control Resonant: Release date and platforms

Control Resonant was announced with a 2026 release date.
This is far earlier than initially expected, as Remedy Entertainment is relatively fresh off the release of the not-very-well-received Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak.
As for platforms, the game will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Mac.
Control Resonant: Story and plot details
To accompany the first trailer for the game, Remedy Entertainment has released the full plot description, confirming Resonant will follow Dylan Faden as he attempts to push back on a reality-altering incursion that threatens to warp Manhattan, New York.
Here’s the full details, via Steam:
‘After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden’s former captors are deploying him at the peak of a supernatural crisis. Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his new-found powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan.’
‘Join Dylan in this sequel to the multi-award-winning Control to explore the expansive zones of a city overrun by the corrupting influences of the chaotic Hiss and invasive micro-organism, the Mold, and other twisted paranatural threats. On the path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he bids to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilled beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear our world apart.’
Control Resonant: First look trailer and everything we learned
As shared at The Game Awards 2025, Control Resonant will be a surreal odyssey starring Dylan Faden as he clashes with various ‘paranatural’ threats – beings, objects, and forces that warp the known universe.
Faden will wield an array of special abilities, including telekinesis, to fight back against these threats and ensure that Manhattan doesn’t devolve into chaos, as an ‘intrusive pattern’ seeks to change the nature of the world.
Intriguingly, one line of dialogue in the trailer suggests that Control protagonist Jess Faden has either gone rogue or ‘fishing’ and therefore it’s up to former pseudo-antagonist Dylan Faden to sort out the world’s troubles. A brief scene suggests Jess may be in an antagonistic position in Control Resonant – although appearances can be deceiving.
Beyond this scene, the trailer also reveals Dylan will use resonant metal resembling a sword in this adventure, where his sibling used a magical gun.
Who is Dylan Faden?

As established in Control, Dylan Faden – like his sister – is a parautalitarian, someone who wields supernatural abilities. In the events of Control, he’s labeled a significant being, and the FBC, who work to contain paranatural threats, designate him as a possible candidate to lead its organisation.
But Dylan loses control of his abilities – telekinesis, telepathy – and he’s instead designated a threat. This leads to him being contained deep within the FBC’s Panopticon prison. He aligns himself with Control‘s big, bad threat – The Hiss – and is a relatively antagonistic force during the events of the game.
At the conclusion of Control, Jesse purges the Hiss, and Dylan falls into a coma.
During Control Resonant, it appears he will awaken from this coma – given he was bald in Control and now has a full head of hair, we can assume he’s asleep for some time before his awakening – with more altruistic intentions.
Notably, Dylan has appeared in the space between Control and Control Resonant already, in the DLC for Alan Wake 2. He first appeared in disguised form in the Jesse Faden-starring ‘North Star’ chapter of the Night Springs DLC. He then appeared, awake, in a containment cell, in the game’s Lakehouse DLC.
Will Alan Wake appear in Control Resonant?

There are plenty of ties between the Control and Alan Wake franchises that suggest there could be an Alan Wake appearance in Control Resonant. As established in Alan Wake 2, the titular hero is also a parautalitarian, and he was briefly captured by the FBC in the events of this game.
While appearances by Alan Wake in Control, and by Jesse Faden in Alan Wake 2, were part of DLC content, we could see a proper, full-blown crossover in Control Resonant. For years now, Remedy Entertainment has been building up its RCU and linking all its titles under one banner.
With Control Resonant taking place in New York, and featuring a warped version of Manhattan, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Alan Wake making an appearance, even in alternative form (as we saw with characters like Tim Breaker in Alan Wake 2).
When will we learn more about Control Resonant?
For now, Remedy Entertainment hasn’t confirmed when we’ll learn more about Control Resonant, but it has said it’ll be a flagship title for the studio in 2026.
‘Control Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence,’ Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of Control Resonant, said in a press release.
‘You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel, we’ve made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.’
Given the game’s upcoming release date, we expect we’ll hear more about it sooner, rather than later.
