Monday 3 December 2007: The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) today announced Saltwater Music of the Torres Strait, a unique musical presentation featuring renowned Torres Strait elder and performer, Henry Gibson (Seaman) Dan on Friday 7 December at 7:30pm in the Arc cinema.

Now nearing his 80th year, Seaman Dan sings, writes and composes traditional maritime songs in Indigenous languages as well as blues, hula and ‘slow-jazz’ songs in English. His repertoire reflects his adventurous working life as a deep-water pearl shell diver and boat skipper. The presentation will be held in Arc, the state-of-the art cinema which has been built with the technical specifications to ensure all events are presented at the highest quality.
