Award-winning Chinese director/writer Zhang Jian-Ya (Once Upon a Time in Shanghai, Red Snow, Crash Landing among eighteen feature credits) will be one of the international guests at the Australian Screen Directors Conference in September. A director renowned for creating mythical worlds on screen, Zhang is currently working with Australian writers Mark Shirrefs and John Thompson on a feature written in Australia and to be shot in China.

ASDA Executive Director Richard Harris said: “The visual style and feel of Chinese cinema has been developing over several decades. We are delighted to have a director of Zhang Jian-Ya’s calibre.”
