Melbourne-based contemporary artist and filmmaker Tony Woods died unexpectedly on Friday 16 June. He was 77.

A few years ago, he was filmed with a GoPro camera outside his studio in Fitzroy. It is a powerful image in its own right, of a man who worked freely across the visual arts, fascinated by light and shadows. After his death this casual scene is poignant in a new way.
