The Redfern Now telemovie, Promise Me, goes into production this week. It explores the impact of violent crime on two women, and their determination to fight for justice. The screenplay was written by Steven McGregor. He was indigenous liaison and script consultant on Australia, and writer and director of Croker Island Exodus and Big Name No Blanket. He also wrote four episodes of the Redfern Now television series.

The telemovie is being directed by Rachel Perkins, director of Radiance and Mabo, writer/director of One Night the Moon and writer, director and producer on First Australians. She also directed three episodes of the television series.
