Two Aussie films opened wide last week and the industry watches them closely: Palm Beach and Danger Close: The Battle for Long Tan opened in third and fourth place on the charts, showing on 250 and 225 screens respectively.
As winter draws to a close, Rachel Ward’s Palm Beach (Universal) clearly provided the summery escape some audience demographics were looking for; the film took $1,142,267 in its debut weekend, averaging a very healthy $4,569 per screen. The telling numbers will be in weeks to come.
