On a cool Saturday morning, the Victorian and Australian governments finally went public on a deal which involves a survivor of the internal management wars at Disney, $46 million for a new studio in the Docklands complex, plus incentives from both levels of governments to bring two multi-book franchises to the local industry.
The Federal Minister Paul Fletcher spoke in general terms. Premier Daniel Andrews revealed his knowledge of the details and a certain fighting determination to enforce the terms of trade. The local producers and crew representatives were very happy. There was no trace of the grumpiness about the fondness for infrastructure investment rather than production development.
