We are currently seeking an experienced Publicist to join our friendly and robust Communications team.

Screen Australia is the Commonwealth Government’s primary agency for supporting Australian screen projects, practitioners and businesses. We support projects of scale and ambition, distinct local stories told with strong creative voices and risk-taking content for all platforms.

The successful candidate will be engaged under the Screen Australia Act 2008

About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Publicist to join our friendly and robust Communications team. Responsible for the administration and delivery of Screen Australia funding announcements to the media and to the public, this role will also be responsible for the complete planning and successful delivery of all Screen Australia events. Key to this role will involve media engagement, project management, event coordination, stakeholder liaison, content creation and some administrative tasks.

This position will be offered as a full-time two-year contract and the position will be based in Sydney.

About you

In order to hit the ground running you will demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum 3-years’ full-time experience in a media relations or corporation communications role, ideally within the Australian screen industry or broader entertainment/ arts industry.
  • Exceptional writing ability, with considerable experience producing media releases from scratch.
  • Proven experience in the administration side of communications, particularly maintaining large-scale WIPs.
  • Demonstrable experience in stakeholder relations, particularly in negotiating media strategy and approvals.
  • Experience with cold-call pitching.
  • Experience managing small to medium-sized functions (20-50 people), such as media calls, briefings and industry sessions.
