Stranger Things 5: Volume 2 – 26 December

Series. Netflix has certainly been milking all the publicity it can get from the fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The first four episodes dropped on 27 November, and on Boxing Day, eager viewers can finally unwrap episodes 5, 6, and 7 (ahead of the final episode, which lands on New Year’s Day).
With Hawkins under lockdown, El in hiding and danger lurking at every turn, the entire party unites with a single goal: to hunt and kill Vecna.

Sunny Nights – 26 December

Series. From the director of Population 11 and No Activity, Sunny Nights follows straight-laced Martin (Will Forte), who teams up with his loose cannon sister Vicki (D’Arcy Carden) to set up a spray tan business, Tansform, in Sydney.
Home to one of the highest skin cancer rates in the world, Australia is also home to Martin’s estranged wife, whom he’s determined to win back. But as Martin and Vicki attempt to turn their company from a start-up operating out of the back of a van into a multimillion dollar empire, the siblings become tangled up in Sydney’s criminal underworld. When a ruthless gangster begins to catch up with them, the two must figure out how to stay alive, out of prison, and in the black.

Special. Join Nonnatus House this festive season as senior midwives embark on a mercy mission to Hong Kong. In this exclusive two-part Christmas special, Call the Midwife transports viewers to Hong Kong, as senior members of Nonnatus House embark on a mercy mission while the younger midwives hold down the fort in Poplar. The story alternates between the two locations, and the Far East mission will prove to be the perfect opportunity for the midwives to spread their wings and grow professionally.

Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale Season 1 – 26 December (AMC+)

Series. Set in a contemporary world where witchcraft is real, the story takes place in the idyllic English town of Sanctuary, where for hundreds of years witches have lived peacefully, as valued members of society. Until now.
At the heart of the tale is Sarah Fenn (Elaine Cassidy), Sanctuary’s resident witch, on whom the town relies to solve their problems when conventional remedies have failed. When local teen rugby star Dan Whithall dies tragically in an apparent accident, his death exposes a terrifying undercurrent of suspicion and fear towards Sarah and her teenage daughter Harper (Hazel Doupe).
Mother of the dead boy Abigail (Amy de Bhrun), once Sarah’s closest friend, is wracked with grief, and to avenge her son’s death, launches a modern-day witch-hunt to get justice, no matter the cost.

Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song – 27 December
Documentary. A definitive exploration of singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen as seen through the prism of his internationally renowned hymn, Hallelujah. This feature-length documentary weaves together three creative strands: the songwriter and his times; the song’s dramatic journey from record label reject to chart-topping hit; and moving testimonies from major recording artists.
