Screen Australia has announced it will host a deep-dive ‘ask me anything’ session about its recently-released Screen Currency 2026 report, which is described as one of the most comprehensive looks at the state of the modern Australian screen industry.
The session will be held online on 28 August.

Screen Australia’s Screen Currency research
The aim of the Screen Currency research was to provide a complete picture of the contemporary Australian screen market, its major stakeholders, how it contributes to the economy, and the level of belief in and support for the industry.
As ScreenHub reported, findings revealed a strong appetite for locally-made Australian content, with 84% of Australians agreeing that access to local screen content is important and 75% saying they want to watch more of it. But the Screen Currency 2026 report also revealed numerous challenges to the sustainability of the industry, including discovery in our algorithm-led world and competition from other global media.
Detailed over 500 pages, there was a lot packed into the report, including analyses of the various factors impacting the screen industry, opportunities for the games industry, and much more.
To share more about the report’s impact and individual segments of research, Screen Australia has gathered a panel of internal experts to reveal insights and answer any questions from those the report impacts most.
Screen Australia’s Q&A panel and ask me anything session
Screen Australia’s AMA panel will feature CEO Deirdre Brennan, COO Grainne Brunsdon, Director of First Nations Strategy Rachel Perkins and Director of Strategy & Insights Adrian Coates. All will be on board to discuss the Screen Currency 2026 report and answer any questions about the wider implications of findings.
