Australian Story: Out in the Open – Sophie Hyde – 16 February
Australian Story is back on our screens with a new season in 2026, with host Leigh Sales exploring the power of the personal and sharing compelling stories about real people that illuminate, entertain and inspire. New episodes drop every Monday night.
This week shares the story of Sophie Hyde. One of Australia’s most successful directors, she has worked with some of the world’s best, including Emma Thompson in 2022’s Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. Her new feature film, Jimpa, is nerve-racking in a whole other way – deeply autobiographical, it shines a light on long-held family secrets – with acclaimed actress Olivia Coleman playing a version of Sophie, and US actor John Lithgow playing her father Jim.

Kath & Kim Series 1-4 & specials – 1 February
Series. Put on some footy franks and pop the Tia Mia, the most iconic and everlasting Australian comedy of all time is heading back to the ABC, and you can stream the whole lot.
Kath is a forty-something empty nester who is very proud of her home, ditto herself. Her daughter Kim is a pouting princess whose glass of Bailey’s Irish Cream is always half empty. Sort Of – 1 February
Series. This big-hearted Canadian sitcom follows Sabi Mehboob, a non-binary millennial who straddles various identities from sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bookstore and bar, to the youngest child in a large Pakistani family, to the de facto parent of a downtown hipster family.
A coming-of-age story, Sort Of exposes the labels we once poured ourselves into as no longer applicable to anyone.
