A good-humoured celebration of industry achievement, the new-look WA Screen Awards were presented last Friday night at a red carpet Gala Awards Ceremony at Perth’s Astor Theatre last Friday.

The slightly delayed awards night revealed a new system of categories, dividing awards into categories for long and short form films, as well as a range of television awards, rather than the previous system of nominees’ career stages. With the new format resulting in more awards overall, a record number of nominations were received, leading to delays in the judging process.
