The UK’s Chancellor has used the government’s Autumn Statement to announce further improvements to incentive schemes that already far outstrip NZ’s in value.

From April next year, the UK will offer a 25% rebate on the first £20 million (cNZ$40 million) of qualifying production expenditure. Expenditure beyond £20 million will be rebated at 20%. The present scheme offers 25% only to productions whose budgets are less than £20 million. All productions budgeted above that figure receive a flat 20% rebate on all qualifying expenditure.
