Chris Hemsworth’s production company Wild State has reportedly shut down, with upcoming projects now in limbo and all information on its website scrubbed. Wild State’s listing on Screen Australia’s Screen Guide is also blank, with no current address or contact details.
The report arrives courtesy of Page Six, which claimed employees had been told earlier in September that the company would be dissolved, and that they would be paid through to the end of 2026.
Page Six alleged the situation at the company had been ‘fraught’ for the last few months, with circumstances including a deal falling through with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s company, Artists Equity. The website claimed few projects were delivered during this partnership, allegedly leading to the deal expiring and not being renewed.

What to know about Wild State
Wild State had developed an array of projects since its founding in 2022, including aiding production on the Chris Hemsworth-starring Netflix thriller Extraction 2, documentary series Limitless with Chris Hemsworth and film Crime 101, produced with Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures.
The company was largely tailored around projects led by the Australian star, although it did appear to be breaking out, recently signing a partnership with the Northern Territory’s Tatts Finke Desert Race to produce a new sports documentary, Through The Dust.
At the time the deal was made, in May 2026, Deadline reported Wild State would also produce ‘various projects’ around the Tatts Finke Desert Race, including a ‘narrative feature’ set to star Hemsworth.
The future of this project is now uncertain, as Wild State appears to be wrapped.
Per an ‘insider’ who reportedly spoke to Page Six, the seeming end of Wild State could have been a choice by Hemsworth to refocus on acting, but details remain vague, and it’s unclear what led to the alleged dissolution of the company.
Production companies face major challenges
What’s worth noting is that Wild State isn’t the only production company seemingly dealing with major challenges in 2026.
Earlier in September, Gold Coast film studio Chrysaor Studios issued a public assessment of its work in 2026, outlining that dozens of recent conversations with producers had resulted in zero bookings.
‘I do not think that is a failure of this studio,’ founder Christopher Amos said. ‘I think it is the clearest evidence I have of how hard it has become for domestic producers, especially in Queensland, to get a project financed and into a stage.’
With the general state of the economy, it appears production deals and financial backing is harder to secure than ever. While Wild State and Hemsworth have not commented on reports around its own challenges, it would be fair to assume current economic circumstances are a potential factor in the company’s reported closure.
