TV3’s use of “Six billion stories … and counting” on the channel’s news promo slots is causing less than friendly comment across the ditch, where SBS has been using the phrase as a major part of its branding for some time.

Not pulling any punches, Jacquie Riddell, SBS’s director of marketing, said, “I think it is poor form to so blatantly steal our idea, and also to make such a ham fist of it in execution … they haven’t got a hope of replicating what we’ve done with bringing ‘Six Billion Stories and Counting’ to air.”
