Hamilton puts itself back on the map – at least as far as the NZ International Film Festival is concerned. The festival, which had to give the city a miss last year will screen this year at the Lido.

New Zealand-made films are among the early announcements for the NZ International Film Festival programme for 2010. As noted last week, Clive Neeson’s Last Paradise (winner of the ‘Ambassador of Green’ award at X Dance earlier this year), Briar March’s There Once Was an Island (winner of the Grand Prix at FIFO earlier this year) and Robin Greenberg’s The Free China Junk will all screen.

The Festival travels to the main centres – Auckland (from 5 July), Wellington (from 16 July), Dunedin, Christchurch, Palmerston North, Hamilton – before continuing around the country to Napier, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Nelson, Greymouth, Masterton, Gisborne and finishes in Whangarei in November.

The full NZ International Film Festival programme will be announced mid-June. Auckland programmes will be available from Wednesday 16 June and tickets on sale from Friday 18 June. Wellington programmes will be available from Friday 18 June and tickets on sale from Tuesday 22 June.
