One of the concerns of inviting international mentors to events such as X Media Lab is the scalability of their experience, ideas and advice. Many of the speakers and mentors on offer at the conference were accustomed to transmedia budgets that outstrip an average film budget in this part of the world. None were remotely put off by the challenges of scaling their strategies for smaller and less well-heeled environs.

The ‘star’ was undoubtedly Jeff Gomez, creator of the transmedia campaign for Avatar, but the other international mentors had plenty of experience and inspiration to offer too. Media and technology strategist Susan Stefanac, filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee, filmmaker and TV producer Josh Shore, Pixeco’s James Franklin and Jumpwire’s Gavin McGarry all took the stage.
