Beijing has merged some existing industry-focused events and opened them up to the public to create the Beijing International Film Season, the inaugural edition of which will run in late April, 2011. One of the event’s stated aims is to encourage co-production activity.

The event will travel under the acronym BIFS and should not be confused with the Belgian organisation with the same initials: the Bird Insemination and Fertilisation Station, which is dedicated to bringing even more pigeons into the world.
