Asian stars on Cannes competition jury

Two Asian stars make up the 9-person panel judging feature films in the Cannes competition.

Hong Kong director John Woo and Indian actress Nandita Das have been named onto the jury of the annual Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 11 to 22.

The other members are Mexican actress Salma Hayek, Spanish actor Javier Bardem, French directors Agnes Varda and Benoit Hacquot, German filmmaker Fatih Ahkin, as well as American novelist Toni Morrison. Sarajevo-born director Emir Kusturica chairs the panel.
