Nacon has confirmed its previously-announced games showcase set for March has been delayed, and will now air later in May. The news follows confirmation of the tenured French publishing company’s insolvency, which was revealed in a filing made in late February.

Plans to restructure and continue publishing

As we previously reported, Nacon recently filed for insolvency as a result of its majority shareholder, Bigben Interactive, failing to make a partial loan repayment in time, due to ‘an unexpected and late refusal by its banking pool’.

Nacon is currently in the process of restructuring its debt, with intentions to settle back into solvency and continue operation long-term. Given the slight delay – not outright cancellation – of Nacon’s big showcase, we do expect the company intends to continue with its overarching publishing plans.

‘Faced with a difficult economic environment for the company, we are choosing to focus our resources on upcoming releases and the development of our current games,’ the company said in a press release.

‘This period will allow us to polish our projects and prepare for a new Nacon Connect to be held in May, which will showcase the work of our studios in the best possible way.’

The publisher has promised there will be additional communications about upcoming games prior to this showcase, including for GreedFall: The Dying WorldDragonkin: The BanishedCthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss and other titles.

What might be in the Nacon Connect showcase

At this stage, the arrival of the Nacon Connect showcase is not a certainty. There are still plenty of complications to work through, as the publisher solves its financial challenges and restructures for the future.

Should the Nacon Connect showcase proceed as intended, Nacon had announced an array of compelling reasons to tune in.

GreedFall: The Dying World is set to release in early access on 12 March, and we are likely to get a look at how it’s progressing. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, set for release in April, is another intriguing Nacon-published title worth tuning in for. This game is all about a supernatural investigator travelling to a mining station in the Pacific, searching for signs of the eldritch and horrific.

It’s likely Nacon also has an array of other unannounced games to share during the showcase.

At this stage, those keen to see what’s next for the tenured publisher will need to stay tuned. While recent troubles have caused doubt about its future, it appears Nacon has plans in place to worth through these challenges.
