MachineGames is reportedly working on the next major entry in the Nazi-smashing Wolfenstein franchise. While nothing is official yet, dual reports from Kotaku and Windows Central posted in January seemed to confirm the game’s existence. Now, we have even more clues that production is underway, thanks to an intriguing casting call.
Wolfenstein 3 gets promising update – quick links
Alleged Wolfenstein 3 casting call seeks young female actress
As first reported by MP1ST, there is currently an open casting call for a young female actress, for a project known only as ‘Valkyrie.’ What makes the listing so interesting is that two folks attached to MachineGames are included as directors – Tom Keegan and Emily Schweber.
Both talents have previously been part of MachineGames projects. Keegan has worked with MachineGames as a performance director on projects including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and every title in the modern Wolfenstein canon.
Schweber is a casting director who has worked with MachineGames on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and other Wolfenstein titles.
It’s also worth noting the codename ‘Valkyrie’ isn’t entirely subtitle. ‘Operation Valkyrie’ was a famed, failed plot by the German military to assassinate dictator Adolf Hitler, and restore order to Germany. The Wolfenstein franchise is all about the overthrow of Nazis, in an alternative history where their rule has spread, decimating the world’s freedom.
Under the Valkyrie casting project, Keegan and Schweber are reportedly working alongside a team to find an actor to portray ‘Sofiya’, a new character who is described as a Ukranian orphan aged 8-11.
It’s believed Sofiya will join the main cast of the next Wolfenstein game, alongside an adopted dog named Ralph, both of whom will seemingly form a bond with franchise protagonist, B.J. Blazkowicz.
M1PST also shared a vague character arc for Sofiya, reportedly included alongside the casting call: ‘While initially suspicious and traumatised by war, she blooms under the care of the resistance (possibly referring to the Kreisau Circle) as a strong-willed survivor.’
Given this description and other clues in the reported casting call, we can assume Sofiya will be a key character in the long-rumoured Wolfenstein 3, and perhaps resemble a character like Ellie from The Last of Us – a young, frightened girl who gains new strength by her bond with an older, grizzled veteran.
What else we know about Wolfenstein 3
For now, MachineGames is remaining tight-lipped about plans for Wolfenstein 3, but it’s worth noting MachineGames co-founder and studio director Jerk Gustafsson claimed in September 2025 that the franchise was always meant to be a trilogy.
As Gustafsson told Noclip, the arc of B.J. Blazkowicz was meant to be defined by three core stories. The first game was about Blazkowicz going on a personal journey, reckoning with the alt-universe victory of the Nazis, and eventually discovering there was more to life than fighting.
‘Moving into New Colossus, then we move into a wider group of people around you, being part of the resistance, something bigger, and something also like a family to you, but at the same time, you’re also preparing to start maybe your own family,’ Gustafsson said.
With hints towards starting a family, and the new casting call referring to a young girl that is under Blazkowicz’s wing, there is a suggestion that Wolfenstein 3 will focus on found family, and finding peace.
It’s best to stay tuned as MachineGames prepares for a more public reveal of this long-rumoured game.
