ConcernedApe, creator of Stardew Valley, has released a new anniversary video to celebrate ten years of the beloved farming sim, looking back on the past, while also revealing what’s next for the future.
The entire retrospective is worth watching, but players keen for more in-game content will likely want to check in at the end, to see ConcernedApe reveal that fan-favourite characters Clint and Sandy are the latest candidates who can be married in gameplay – as long as you take the time to romance them, first.

What to know about Stardew Valley‘s new romances
While details remain scarce, there’s plenty of chatter around Clint and Sandy joining the marriage roster. Every character has their own fanbase, but players have long desired to be closer to Clint, and Sandy comes with her own sense of intrigue.
Clint is a long-serving member of the Stardew Valley community. He runs the local town Blacksmith, and is one of the more underdeveloped characters in the game. Even being the quiet and gruff sort, there’s still plenty of folks keen to know him better.
In update 1.7, we expect there’ll be plenty of chances for Clint to reveal more about his inner life, as players will be able to unlock new milestone moments with him, as their relationship grows and changes.
Those keen to get to know Clint should note his ‘love’ items, which will speed up friendship gain: Amethyst, Aquamarine, Artichoke Dip, Emerald, Fiddlehead Risotto, Gold Bar, Iridium Bar, Jade, Omni Geode, Ruby, and Topaz. Avoid giving Clint any Quartz, Salmonberry, Wild Horseradish, and Holly.
Sandy is even more mysterious than Clint, as one of the shopkeepers in the far-off Calico Desert. When she was introduced, Sandy was a relatively low-key NPC, with few chances for interaction. With the game’s 1.7 update, she will become a more layered character.
We expect the update will introduce plenty of new interactions, as well as the chance to learn her real name. (Sandy is a pseudonym, and her real name hasn’t been revealed yet.)
Sandy’s love items are Crocus, Daffodil, Mango Sticky Rice, and Sweet Pea. Avoid giving her Holly.
What else is coming to Stardew Valley in update 1.7
As well as the two new marriage candidates, we know Stardew Valley update 1.7 will also introduce additional content, including enhancements for all family living situations.
Children will become more ‘engaging’ in this update, with new opportunities for interaction. Given they’re currently pretty boring and non-functional, any changes will be appreciated.
A new farm type has also been confirmed.
Beyond this, ConcernedApe has remained tight-lipped, sharing that he wants the majority of the new features to remain ‘a surprise’ for players. Those keen to see what’s next in Stardew Valley will simply have to stay patient as more news arrives.
For now, the latest update for Stardew Valley doesn’t have a firm release date, but we expect to hear more in the coming months.
