Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Gossip Girl) will officially provide the voice of Amy Rose – aka Sonic’s long-term romantic interest – in Sonic the Hedgehog 4, following the character’s non-voiced post-credits cameo in the third film.

Who is Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 4?

Amy Rose appeared in the final stages of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, wielding her signature hammer, and defending Sonic from an array of Metal Sonic robots.

What was notable about this particular scene is that it was incongruous to the rest of the film. The iconic Metal Sonic robots, made famous in Sonic CD, appeared out of nowhere in a scene that could actually be from the next Sonic film.

Amy Rose’s appearance was also a major surprise, as she interfered in this sudden battle, with the film ending on the reveal of her appearance.

It appears Amy Rose will play a major role in the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and that perhaps she’s been reimagined somewhat as a more capable, less ‘ditzy’ fighter.

We expect she’ll be key to the unfolding events of the film, which are expected to focus on time travel. That would align with the Sonic CD source material, which follows Sonic on a journey through the past, present, and future.

For now, Paramount Pictures is keeping the exact plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 under wraps, but we expect to hear more shortly, as the film is set to open in March 2027.

Kristen Bell’s voice acting credentials make her a perfect fit for Amy Rose

Since Amy Rose debuted in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, there has been much debate about who would be voicing her. Given past films have featured big-name actors like Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves, the possibilities were wide open, and there were plenty of names being thrown around.

Kristen Bell feels like the ideal candidate, given her experience with acting and voice acting. One of her first big, recognisable voice roles was as the voice of Gossip Girl in the TV series of the same name. She is also the current voice of Anna from Frozen, one of the most-recognisable voices in the world for children of the 2010s and 2020s.

Those keen to see what’s next for Amy Rose will simply have to stay tuned, as Paramount Pictures gears up for the next big Sonic the Hedgehog adventure.

The rising demand for RAM chips to power new AI processes is reportedly inspiring a rethink of release timing for Sony’s upcoming PS6 console, as well as contributing to discussions around price rises for existing consoles.

As outlined by Bloomberg, demand for RAM chips has been driven by increased AI usage around the world. Companies are increasingly looking to expand their compute power to process more complex AI tasks, with these moves contributing to high demand and shortages of RAM globally. Sony, which is reportedly in the early stages of developing the next PlayStation console, the PS6, is seemingly facing significant challenges in light of these new demands.

Per analysts speaking to Bloomberg, the company had been planning to release the PS6 in the near future, possibly as early as 2027.
