Screen Australia is currently seeking applications for its Future Leaders Delegation to BitSummit 2026, with early-to-mid career gamemakers encouraged to apply. Up to eight gamemakers will be provided with funds of up to $6,000 to support flights to the event, accomodation, transport, meals, and event tickets.

What to know about Screen Australia’s Future Leaders Delegation

As shared, the fund is designed to ‘enable the selected delegates to connect with their peers, seek out partnerships, funding, and marketplace opportunities, develop their networks in a strategically relevant region, and understand their practice within the broader international sector.’

Importantly, successful applications will be able to exhibit their game at BitSummit 2026, as part of a dedicated Australian stand. Given BitSummit tends to draw numbers in the 30,000s, it should be an importance chance to exhibit new and upcoming games, and get real-time feedback from an audience of gaming fans, developers, and publishers.

As noted by Screen Australia, it’s also a chance for developers to network, and learn more about the global games industry, to understand more about the challenges faced, and the lessons learned.

Ahead of the event, Screen Australia will provide workshops, presentations, mentoring, and other networking opportunities for successful applicants, to ensure the trip is worthwhile and productive. The team will also be on the ground at BitSummit 2026 for further support.

How to apply for Screen Australia’s Future Leaders Delegation

Those keen to apply for Screen Australia’s Future Leaders Delegation, to make the trip to BitSummit 2026, will need to fit certain criteria.

Applicants must have an active ABN or be a designated representative of a company. They must be actively working on at least one game that’s ready for a public showcase by BitSummit 2026, which takes place from 22-24 May 2026. They must also be available to participate in pre-departure workshops in Melbourne (with travel provided for those in other states).

Notably, folks who have previously participated in a Future Leaders Delegation under the Screen Australia banner will not be eligible to apply again. This is an opportunity for new, diverse voices to be given a spotlight, and to have a chance to grow as a gamemaker.

Those keen to apply for the opportunity, who fit this criteria, will have until 5:00 pm AEDT on 13 November to get their applications in. After this date, applications will be formally assessed, and a final verdict will be handed down by 12 December 2025.
