A major new Pokémon Presents showcase has been announced for 27 February, and it should be well worth watching. It’ll celebrate the annual Pokémon Day, and also help kick off the year-long 30th anniversary celebrations for the franchise.

We expect a show filled with news and announcements, hopefully with some hints about what’s next for the Pokémon video game franchise, the trading card game, and more.

What to expect of the latest Pokémon Presents showcase

For now, The Pokémon Company hasn’t revealed exactly what to expect of the upcoming show, but it has said players should ‘get ready for a year’s worth of fun’ tied to the anniversary celebrations.

The first teaser for the year arrived during the 2026 Superbowl, with an ad featuring prominent celebrities discussing their favourite Pokémon and why they love the franchise. Now, we’re set to get more tangible updates and a clearer picture of what’s next.

There’s plenty to speculate about. We can assume at least one new game will be announced during the showcase, if not more. In the past, we’ve seen more mainline titles revealed, as well as various remakes, re-releases and spin-offs.

While an early listing for the re-releases of GBA games FireRed and LeafGreen seems to have spoiled one major announcement (although its unclear if this was intended for reveal during the show), we are likely to see even more news shortly.

It’s been quite some time since the last ‘mainline’ Pokémon game release – Scarlet and Violet launched in 2022 – so it feels likely we’ll get a look at the next major game, and possibly some entirely new critters.

It’s also possible we get a look at a new remaster, as has long been requested by keen players. Could new versions of Black and White finally be on the way? Or a follow-up to the Let’s Go spin-off franchise?

At this stage, it’s anyone’s guess.
