How to watch the latest Nintendo Indie World in Australia

Nintendo Indie World is set to return this week. Here's how to tune in.

Nintendo is hosting a new Nintendo Indie World showcase, set to air on 28 October, depending on your local time zone. It’s been quiet on the front of new Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 game announcements recently, so this should be a presentation worth tuning in for, even if it is a bit shorter than usual.

Across its 15-minute runtime, we’ll get looks at ‘new announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch,’ hopefully including plenty of surprise announcements.

What to expect of the Nintendo Indie World showcase for October

It’s worth noting the Nintendo Indie World showcases include only third-party games from independent studios. It won’t include any announcements from Nintendo itself, or major third-party AAA studios.

What you can expect is a raft of announcements from smaller studios bringing their games to Nintendo’s consoles. Sometimes, there are surprise reveals and dates for unannounced games. Oftentimes, these showcases reveal upcoming ports of games previously available on PC or other consoles.

That leaves speculation fairly open, as anything could appear. There’s been plenty of PC-only releases for great indie games recently, including the likes of Nighthawks, Beyond These Stars and Dressmaker, to name a handful. Could we see Switch ports for any of these?

Speculation is always a risk, as it creates expectations, but excitement about what could result is warranted. Suffice to say there’s plenty of solid games that could find a home on Nintendo’s consoles in future, and we look forward to seeing which ones make the leap – or get bright, unexpected announcements – during the latest Nintendo Indie World.

Even with a 15 minute runtime, there’s likely to be plenty of reveals packed in.

Neopets defined my childhood. For anyone who grew up in the early 2000s, it was genuinely ground-breaking: a new website that offered space to play on the internet while having fun, making friends and learning new skills like basic coding, investing in the stock market and hosting a shop. It remains the benchmark for what the internet could still be, away from what it’s becoming.

It might surprise some to know but Neopets is still going strong in 2026. While it’s no longer in the mainstream conscious, it maintains a passionate and dedicated fanbase and it receives frequent updates encouraging players to take part in new story-based plots, events and other activities.

Under new management, it has also received a smorgasbord of new tie-in media and merchandise to encourage players back into the fold – a moreish Battledome TCG card game (which has become my new obsession), a new board game, plush toys, Funko Pop Vinyls and more.
