Nintendo has surprise-announced a new Nintendo Direct game showcase set to take place tonight, at midnight on 10 June in Australia.

The show will be the final lot of game announcements for the Summer Game Fest season, with over 50 minutes of information presented for games coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.

What to know about the surprise Nintendo Direct of June 2026

As announced, the surprise Nintendo Direct showcase will be a significant one. We haven’t seen a major showcase from Nintendo for several months now, and with the upcoming release calendar for the Nintendo Switch 2 looking bare, this presentation feels very needed.

For what could appear, that’s anyone’s guess. It’s likely we’ll get a new trailer for confirmed upcoming games, including the major Star Fox remake out on 25 June, Rhythm Heaven Groove, out 2 July, or even Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, out in August.

There are also a handful of games previously announced to release in 2026 that could get new trailers with firmer dates, including The Duskbloods, Danganronpa 2×2, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.

Beyond what’s already been confirmed for the console, we could also do with a few new announcements from fan-favourite franchises.

We know there’s new Pokémon games arriving in 2027, so it feels unlikely we’ll get another announcement there. But what about the mainline Mario series? Could we finally see the announcement of that long-awaited Mario platformer sequel?

The Legend of Zelda is another question mark. With a major film adaptation on the horizon, it’s possible we see a new game or a remaster on the way for Nintendo Switch 2 shortly, if only to remind everyone how fun and creative this universe is.

Throwing further predictions out, we could see more adventures in store for Donkey Kong Bananza. New content for Mario Kart World also wouldn’t go amiss.

While it might be dreaming big, Nintendo has developed a reputation for hiding major surprises, with development on new games typically quite secretive. The company could really be working on anything, which is what makes each Nintendo Direct feel so exciting.
